Travel jacket on Kickstarter raises over $9 million

A Kickstarter travel jacket project recently broke record after raised over $9 million.

The project’s target was only $20,000, but interested backers started sending their money fast. Designer Hiral Sanghavi, whose idea is to create a comfortable, useful, and stylish jacket, went past the target in less than 24 hours.

Sanghavi of design firm Baubax LLC pitched the following ideas for “The World’s Best Travel Jacket”: it will have four different styles and has 15 different pockets and features like a built-in neck pillow, eye mask, gloves, earphone holders, drink pocket, and tech compartments.

Sanghavi is 29-year-old MBA student based in Chicago. He said that the idea for the jacket came from his constant need to visit his wife, who is living in the West Coast–he always looked for a way to keep track of his gear.

“Congratulations!!! We have become the 6th most funded campaign in the history of Kickstarter (Out of approx 250,000). It’s time to pat your back. It’s only because of your love and support that BauBax Jackets are coming to life to solve all the inconveniences that travelers face around the world,” said the Kickstarter’s most recent blog post.
