Demi Lovato signs modeling contract

Pop star Demi Lovato has signed her first ever modeling contract.

Though the “Cool for the Summer” singer/former Disney star is no stranger to brand endorsements–she has posed for Skechers, her skincare line, and nail art products–this is the first time that she is signing with a modeling agency.

She has signed with top modeling agency Wilhelimina, which has signed celebrities like Nick Jonas, Ellar Coltrane, and RJ Mitte.

“I’m thrilled to sign my first major modeling contract with Wilhelmina,” the 23-year-old Lovato said in a press release. “I’m very excited to see where our work together will go creatively as I enter the next phase of my career and continue to develop as an artist.”

Aside from a new modeling gig, Lovato has been very busy doing shows, recording, doing photo shoots (one of which featured spontaneous, unretouched photos for Vanity Fair–“no makeup, no clothes, no retouching“), and giving empowering statement to girls everywhere.

“…I want to inspire other women. For someone who’s had body image issues since they were a child, I went from hating every inch of my body to showing every inch of my body to the entire world and without touching up anything. I wouldn’t have done that six months ago, because I didn’t have the confidence that I do today,” she said.

“We are very excited to have such a phenomenal musical star with an editorially beautiful image on board with us here at Wilhelmina,” Jose Covarrubias the Senior Model Manager said in a press release. “Not only is Demi immensely talented, she also has confidence, sophistication, maturity and body positivity that we will use to build her presence in the world of fashion.”

Lovato has also recently released her album Confident, her fifth studio album. Read a review by Billboard here.
